The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild
Thoughts
I feel like few game series depart so much from such established past entries to such a degree, but Breath of the Wild nailed it, in my opinion. The opening is amazing, the exploration aspect is unrivaled, and I think the world-building is really solid.
Since it was a Switch launch title, I’ll always remember this frame of time since I was very much excited for the the system to launch. I got the collector’s edition of the game as well, which came with some cool stuff like a neat carrying case for the Switch.
The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom followed this one, and while I don’t think it was ever going to be able to have the same impact as BOTW, I think it evolved the gameplay really well.

It sounds like the vinyl boxset will be shipping soon, so that’s fun! It’s coming up on one year since I ordered it!
2026 - May 20 - Wednesday:
My order of the soundtrack boxset on vinyl is delayed, so it probably won’t get here until sometime in the fall. 😔 Having ordered it back in October of ‘25, it’ll probably end up being over a year until I’ve actually received it. That’s the downside of ordering niche products like that, I suppose!
