# Insidious - Chapter 3

This entry in the series wasn’t as good as either of the prior entries, in my opinion, but it was still entertaining. Neha mentioned that she felt there wasn’t as much of a story to it, and I tend to agree.

The characters were generally solid, if a bit underdeveloped, but I thought the writing was a little weak and the movie overall leaned a little too heavily into Elise. Her conflict with the woman in black spirit was a little forced — it was also a little hokey at times and didn’t really have the same weight as in the first couple of movies. I wondered why she seemed to be able to easily go toe-to-toe with the spirit in this one, but had no chance at all against her in the first movie.
