IDE & Text Editor Color Schemes
Published 2026-02-11
I change up the color scheme and fonts that I’m using in my IDEs, text editors, and so on pretty frequently. Lately, I’ve been using a customized version of the Gruvbox color scheme, specifically the Hard Contrast palette.
Generally speaking, I almost always use light mode themes over dark ones. For some reason or another, I feel like text in dark mode doesn’t look as clear to me as it does in a light theme; probably something to do with my eyesight, but alas. I also use Color Tweaker Pro to make tweaking things a little easier in this specific context. Something like VS Code is considerably easier for customizing your editing experience. There’s a subtle gray background rather than a harsh white to make the text have a softer look to it.
In situations where I do use a dark theme, such as with my phone during night hours, I do a similar thing where I use a faded dark background rather than something like pure black whenever it’s an option.
Thanks for reading!
